Happy Father’s Day: Share Unconditional LOVE

Celebrating the Essence of Fatherhood

Special occasions become all the more meaningful when celebrated with heart and soul. Just like other cherished events in our lives, fathers also have a day dedicated to honoring their profound influence. Father’s Day is that unique moment when we express our deepest gratitude to the unsung heroes in our lives.

A father is not just a parent; they are mentors, inspirations, motivators, and the solid rock in our journey through life. This special day serves as a poignant reminder of the pivotal role fathers play in molding their children’s destinies. It’s an opportunity to appreciate the sacrifices they make and the profound impact they have on their families.

When Does Father’s Day Fall in 2023?

What sets Father’s Day apart is its flexible date, unlike many other fixed celebrations. It always falls on the third Sunday of June and is celebrated across nations like the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Canada, and beyond. Some countries, such as Australia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, choose alternative dates for this heartfelt celebration. In 2023, mark your calendars for June 18th.

The Origin Story of Father’s Day

The roots of Father’s Day trace back to Sonora Smart Dodd, a resident of Spokane, Washington. She envisioned this day as a tribute to her father, William Smart, a Civil War veteran who single-handedly raised his children on a farm in eastern Washington.

In 1909, Sonora proposed the idea of Father’s Day to The Spokane Ministerial Alliance, initially suggesting June 5th, her father’s birthday, as the date. However, the clergy needed more time to prepare, leading to the first celebration of Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June in 1910. In 1972, US President Richard Nixon officially recognized Father’s Day as a nationwide holiday in the United States, inspiring its celebration in other nations.

Father’s Day Celebration in India

Father’s Day serves as a day for fostering bonds and creating lasting memories. In India, it is a poignant reminder of the indispensable role fathers play in shaping their children’s lives. Many people in India seize this opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation for the significant male figures who have influenced them.

On this special day, numerous NGOs come together to pay homage to fathers worldwide. The Helios Welfare Trust is one such organization, providing school lunches as an incentive to support the education and dreams of underprivileged children. Helios Welfare Trust embodies the true spirit of Father’s Day.

With the backing of the government and generous donors, Helios Welfare Trust channels resources through the PM POSHAN Abhiyaan (formerly known as the Mid-Day Meal Programme) to ensure children receive proper nutrition, alleviating fathers’ concerns about their children’s health and education. Through this program, we provide nutritious mid-day meals to over 2 million children across 15 states and 2 UTs in India, empowering fathers to focus on their children’s academic pursuits and well-being.

By supporting The Helios Welfare Trust, you contribute to fulfilling a father’s dream of ensuring his child receives at least one nutritious meal every day and can concentrate on academics and other activities. You can make a difference by donating online to provide cooked meals for just ₹1,500.

To all the fathers who tirelessly support their families, we extend our heartfelt wishes on this Father’s Day! We collectively honor and salute you!
